Location:
Mt. Soledad district of La Jolla, California.
Project
Description: Completed March, 2007
The
existing residence was a 1,600 sq. ft. single
story structure. The kitchen and dining areas
were out-dated and wern't functionly adequate
for the desires of the owner. Additionally, the
rear yard was partitioned off by a large retaining
wall, thus, greatly reducing the beauty and interaction
of the spacious yard.
The scope of the project was to add 650 sq. ft.
to the rear of the home, as well as construct
a new 900 sq. ft. garage with an additional 1,000
sq.ft. second floor above, all with the goal of
providing much desired interaction with the rear
yard.
The first floor addition creates a large, open
syle kitchen, dining and living spaces. The new
second floor above the garage has 2 additional
bedrooms, full bath and large, vaulted ceiling
great room equipped with a wet bar. An exterior
covered balcony provides a new veiw of the Pacific
Beach community as well as the Pacific Ocean.
